STRENGTHENING THE SOCIOECONOMIC QUALITY OF DISABILITY THROUGH COMMUNITY SERVICE 2022
The Bachelor of Development Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Bengkulu collaborated with the Indonesian Association of Women with Disabilities (HWDI) group in Bengkulu City to strengthen the socioeconomics of disability through community service activities. JEP’s Community Service Program (PPM) carries the theme “Synergy in Improving the Socio-Economic Quality of the Community during the Covid-19 Pandemic” in the group of people with disabilities in Bengkulu City.
On June 11, 2022, People with disabilities became the right collaborators. It is seen from the fact that this group has become a vulnerable group to social and economic shocks, especially since the emergence of the covid-19 phenomenon. In addition, in terms of socioeconomic recovery, people with disabilities are classified as requiring more extra time and energy compared to non-disabled people. Therefore, to strengthen the socioeconomics of people with disabilities, collaboration is needed by cooperating with stakeholders and JEP FEB UNIB is ready to work together through this community service activity.
The PPM JEP UNIB activity which started at 09.00 WIB began with the opening of the Head of the Department of Development Economics FEB UNIB, namely Dr. Bambang Agoes Hermanto, S.E., M.Sc. followed by remarks from Diana Lestari as the head of HWDI Bengkulu City. In addition, this activity is a concern of the JEP program to strive to strengthen the socio-economic of persons with disabilities in Bengkulu City through the provision of counseling and various practices aimed at strengthening social and economic standards towards the socio-economic independence of persons with disabilities in Bengkulu City. One of the counseling provided was to drive a solutive, effective and inclusive disability cooperative program for the Bengkulu City group of people with disabilities.

The Ambience of Providing Counseling on Inclusive Cooperatives for People with Disabilities in Bengkulu City
The next activity continued with the practice of making shredded tuna as an effort to improve the economy through tuna shredded business opportunities from the Bengkulu City HWDI group of 35 people. Shredded tuna is considered a great opportunity because this product is still rarely traded. This product has a high taste image so that it is felt capable and matches the taste image of the people of Bengkulu City in general, both among children, teenagers, adults and the elderly. In addition, this product becomes a snack and staple food that is rich in nutrients.

“Hopefully, the counseling and practice programs delivered in the PPM BDE FEB UNIB activities can really be followed up by the participants of the activity, especially the group of people with disabilities in Bengkulu City so that the benefits can be felt directly by the disability group” (Remarks and impressions from the Chairman of BDE FEB UNIB Dr. Bambang Agoes Hermanto, S.E., M.Sc at the end of the activity).
