In 1985 or 3 years after UNIB was founded in 1982, an internal campus organization at the Faculty of Economics was formed which was named HMJ-IESP (Student Association of Development Studies Department of Economics). Based on the decision of MUKER in 2007, HMJ-IESP officially changed its name to HIMAJIE. Based on the decision of MUKER in 2007, HMJ-IESP officially changed its name to HIMAJIE.

Based on MUKER on October 8, 2011 in HIMAJIE’s AD/ART, the name HIMAJIE changed to HIMEP (Development Economics Student Association) and it was agreed on June 2, 2018 to change to the Development Economics Student Association, Faculty of Economics and Business, Bengkulu University’s Big Family Students (HIMEP FEB KBM UNIB ). The name change is due to the name of the department which was originally Economics changed to Development Economics
